Having worked in Local Authority, Further Education, Secondary and Primary schools teaching Literacy/Numeracy and more recently an Early Year’s Setting, Ian is looking to continue a career in education consultancy and assessing but he is open to other avenues. He is also called on to exercise his lay ministry in different settings. He is able to transfer skills between various settings because of his wealth of experience.
‘Just because you are no longer in school, it doesn’t mean that learning stops. I think I’ve probably learned more since I graduated! Education is a lifelong endeavour. If you are serious about personal growth, you will take time to nourish your intellect as well as your heart and soul.
I believe you are never too old to learn anything. There are opportunities everywhere. It is about planning your day, knowing you have certain things to do and fitting the learning around that in your free time. I am an old dog willing to learn new tricks. I'm not going to grow old - I'm going to turn into a valuable antique!’
